Once again, today — 07.09.11 — is Odd Day

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — That’s right: It’s here again, and according to the now-retired teacher who keeps track of such, well, oddities, there are only two more such dates left in this century.

Once again, today — July 9, 2011 — is Odd Day, according to Ron Gordon, who recently retired as a teacher in the Sequoia-Union School District in Redwood City, Calif.

If you’re still confused: Today is Odd Day because the date — 07.09.11 — is a correct sequence of odd numbers.

Gary Lee Cooper, 76

Gary Lee Cooper, 76, Glen Campbell, died Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Miners Medical Center, Hastings.

He was born May 20, 1935, in Sunbury, a son of the late Rev. Albert C. and Elizabeth “Betty” S. (Clark) Cooper.

Feb. 23, 1963, he married Irene C. (Androsky) Cooper, who survives, of Glen Campbell.

Mr. Cooper served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and then with the Combat Engineers.

Carolyn B. Phillips, 84

Carolyn B. Phillips, 84, Punxsutawney, formerly of Mahaffey, passed away July 8, 2011, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center, Punxsutawney.

She was born March 3, 1927, in Bell Township, a daughter of the late Bruce R. and Linda (Passmore) Young.

She was married to A. Ray Phillips, who preceded her in death.

Rose M. Tote, 84

Rose M. Tote, 84, Punxsutawney, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center, Punxsutawney.
Mrs. Tote was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Frostburg, a daughter of the late Sam and Ann (Yorio) Barber.

April 15, 1950, she married John J. Tote, who survives, of Punxsutawney. They were married 61 years.

She was a member of Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America and the Ladies’ Rosary Altar Society.

Mrs. Tote sang in the choir for many years.
