PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Punxsy girls' basketball team saved its best for last.
The Lady Chucks scored their most points this season in the final home game of the year while dispatching Penn Cambria Tuesday night, 65-55.
BRADFORD — The Punxsy wrestling team rode pin fall victories from Nathan McGregor, Carl Langley, Josh Neal and Tige Woodson into a 42-24 victory over Bradford Tuesday night in Bradford.
McGregor (24-7) earned a fall over Matt Ostrander in 3:41 at 145 pounds, and Langley (15-15) pinned Dylan Lamberson in 3:15 at 160 pounds.
At 171 pounds, Josh Neal (10-15) won by fall over Rob Hilfirty, and Tige Woodson (13-18) pinned Francis Durnein during the final second of the first round at 189 pounds.
BROOKVILLE — Brookville junior Brett Smith said that the Raiders could still feel the sting from their loss to Ridgway during the week leading up to their dual meet with Smethport Tuesday night in Brookville.
The team, which had expected to make a run in the state tournament, was forced to stay at home and watch.

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Defense and a career-high night by junior Alex Fedigan helped the Punxsy boys' basketball team earn a 55-42 victory over Penn Cambria Monday night that will go a long way toward solidifying a home playoff game for the Chucks.
Fedigan scored a career-best 17 points, and Punxsy held the Panthers to 21 points during the first quarter to win their eighth game this season. Punxsy not only doubled last year's win total with the victory, but it nearly clinched the No. 2 seed in the District IX Class AAA playoffs.
FOXBURG — A tight game throughout went in the Punxsy girls' basketball team's favor Monday night, as the Lady Chucks started the final week of their season with a 51-46 win over A-C Valley.
The quality road victory was Punxsy's first away from home since Jan. 3. The win also snapped the Lady Chucks' six-game losing streak.
A-C Valley (5-12) had won two-straight games entering Monday.
"The girls played very hard tonight and played with a lot of pride," Punxsy head coach Randy Reitz said. "It was a nice win on the road."
ST. MARYS — All Brookville boys’ basketball coach Bud Baughman could do at the end of his team’s 69-59 loss to Elk County Catholic was wave his hands in frustration.
Nothing went the Raiders' way Monday night at Elk County Catholic.
Elk County Catholic shot 22-for-26 (85 percent) on trips to the free-throw line, while Brookville shot 6-for-14 (43 percent), and the Crusaders' offense created more opportunities than the Raiders.
Elk County Catholic also made five three-pointers in the first half, while Brookville struggled to find a rhythm offensively.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Beginning Monday, PennDOT, Punxsutawney Borough Police and Pennsylvania State Police are targeting aggressive drivers in an effort that runs through March 27.
Shawn Houck, PennDOT District 10 safety officer, said Monday that PennDOT is supporting a statewide crackdown on aggressive driving as part of this year’s distribution of nearly $2.1 million in federal funds, which supports police efforts to reduce the number of aggressive-driving crashes.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Monday, Punxsutawney Borough Council took no action regarding a proposal former probational Punxsutawney Borough Police Officer Sean Weaver made at the Jan. 10 council meeting.
According to the Jan. 10 minutes, Weaver said it was requested that he have his attorney, Jeffrey S. DuBois, draft an agreement to bring a fair, equitable and amicable end to the lawsuit that he filed against the borough relative to his release at the end of his probationary period.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Elk Run Volunteer Fire Company is closer to purchasing a new fire engine after Punxsutawney Borough Council passed a motion to advertise for bids at Monday's meeting.
Punxsutawney Fire Department Chief Paul Hense brought the final bid specs to council for its approval.
J. Karl Sutter, 80, Punxsutawney, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital after a long illness.
A son of the late J.B. and Lillian (Sutter) Sutter, Mr. Sutter was born Oct. 9, 1930, in Covode.
May 14, 1951, he married Doris (Engle) Sutter, of Punxsutawney, who survives.
Mr. Sutter was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army.
He attended the CMA Church.
