PUNXSUTAWNEY â Sickness left Ridgway with just nine wrestlers Thursday night, and the Punxsy junior-high wrestling team took advantage of the Elkers' small squad while registering a 61-18 victory at home.
Punxsy (5-1) still out-wrestled Ridgway, earning a slim 19-18 victory on the mats. After that, the Chucks ended the match with seven-straight forfeit wins.
Marie F. Lindsay, 87, of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at St. Andrews Village in Indiana.
She was born Dec. 23, 1923, in Cannonsburg, a daughter of the late Raymond and Stella (Olminsky) Lindsay.
Jean Douthit, 80, Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in Shippenville.
She was born Aug. 17, 1930, a daughter of the late Carlton and Jane (Lewis) Reitz.
She was married to Howard Douthit, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Douthit was a member of the Cloe United Methodist Church.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â Though it lost 39-28 to Ridgway Thursday night at home, the Punxsy wrestling team took solace in a victory on the mat, as three forfeits helped the Elkers secure the 11-point victory.
In the 11 bouts that were wrestled, Punxsy (6-7) outscored Ridgway, 28-21 â winning six matches. That includes three victories by fall, a major decision win and two triumphs by decision.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â Though the dust from the holiday shopping season has just settled, for one local retailer, the hustle-and-bustle is just beginning.
