PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Punxsy junior-varsity boys' basketball team allowed a combined 34 points during the two middle quarters during a 53-41 loss to Brookville last Friday at home.
The Chucks (3-4) trailed 12-8 after one quarter when they were outscored 34-23 during the next two quarters.
Hunter Tibbs nailed four three-pointers and had nine points by halftime during a team-best 15-point night. Jesse Venturini had eight of his 13 points by halftime, Garrett Zimmerman added six points, and Ian Miller had five.
BROOKVILLE — Led by the first-place performances of Kaleb Young and Troy Peace, the Punxsy junior-high wrestling team finished one spot shy of a team award at Brookville's two-day "Pow-Wow in the 'Ville" Tournament last Friday and Saturday.
Of the 11 teams that competed, Punxsy finished in fourth place, just missing out on the final team plaque, which was earned by third-place Brookville.
Sandy Rae Frampton, 49, of Johnstown, formerly of Reynoldsville, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at home in Reynoldsville with her family.
She was born Aug. 5, 1961, in Barberton, Ohio, a daughter of John Elroy and Laudrea Catherine (Brewer) Frampton, who survive, of Reynoldsville.
Ms. Frampton was a 1980 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School. Following graduation, she attended Penn State-DuBois.Â
She worked as a profusion technician at Specialty Care Open Heart division of Connemaugh Hospital.
