BIG RUN — Big Run Borough Council discussed the new FEMA flood plane maps with borough solicitor Jay Lundy at Monday’s meeting.
John Niver, council member, said that the new maps were supposed to be mailed to David Rouch, emergency management coordinator/code enforcement officer, and that he was unable to get a hold of him before Monday’s meeting.
Lundy explained that the new maps should’ve been reviewed by borough council already.
BROOKVILLE — “I want to see jobs brought to the area. That is very important to me and something that I want to see accomplished here,” Paula Foradora said to the Jefferson County Commissioners last Tuesday.
Foradora, general manager of Nine-Star Capital LP, discussed plans for the development of a business park on Route 28 near the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.
Christopher Nasuti, vice-president of Lee-Simpson Associates, the engineering consultant for Nine-Star Capital, said the parcel has been thoroughly reviewed and is suitable for development.
BROCKWAY — At the fall luncheon program of the Jefferson County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees (PASR), the “three R’s” took on new meanings: Recognition, Rewards and Remembrances. Members gathered at the St. Tobias Church Hall in Brockway to enjoy a delicious catered meal, which was followed by a program that honored various individuals for their accomplishments. The meeting ended with the annual SSMHF candlelight ceremony to pay tribute to those who had passed during the year.
